Equine Facilitated Counselling​Equine Facilitated Counsselling is an experiential psychotherapy that is facilitated by a (qualified) mental health professional with horse experience (EFMHA, 2003). At Shamrock, we combine our formal education as mental health professionals, science, and research to provide a therapeutic basis for adding horses and nature to our therapeutic work.​Horses are masters of non-verbal communication. They teach us about trust, respect, and boundaries, which we bridge to our clients' lives off of the farm. When people are met with the non-judgmental and forgiving eyes of a horse, it helps create an emotionally safe environment where it is easier to invite desired change and accept help.In many ways, our equine facilitated counselling provides everything that traditional clinical counselling (see below) does, with the addition of a horse,Traditional Clinical Counselling​​Traditional counselling is typically thought of as “talk therapy”, with the addition of play and expressive therapies as appropriate. We use a variety of therapeutic approaches, including narrative and cognitive behavior therapy. It is our belief that each client’s needs are unique, and the work that we do in very dependent on the needs of the people we work with. Shamrock's mission is to help individuals, families and communities that have faced trauma, life challenges, emotional and psychological difficulties, and adversity, by providing the highest level of therapeutic care while people reclaim, rebuild, and renew their lives. Our integration of traditional therapy and equine facilitated therapy provides a safe, collaborative and supportive place to work through what has brought people to counselling. We believe that each person is unique, For some, talking in one of our inviting therapy rooms is what is wanted. Others prefer working with our horses and being outside. Either way, our qualified mental health team incorporates a variety of approaches to create an experience that is unique for each individual.

They tell me that they feel listened to and heard.We all grapple with issues from time to time. Sometimes we can talk it out with a trusted partner, friend or family member.  But sometimes, we need someone else who will listen without an agenda, without judging, who will really “get us” and help us to hear our own voice to figure out what to do.  A helper who will keep our confidence. Looking For Relief from Anxiety? You feel stressed. You constantly fear what might go wrong. It’s difficult to function in your daily activities. You may be depressed. You can’t see a way out of your anxiety. Life seems flat. It lacks joy. Counselling can provide lasting relief from chronic anxiety and depression. I use the profound modality of Therapy called Reichian therapy. Reichian therapy is one of the first types of therapy that incorporated the role the body plays in psychological and emotional problems, as well as its role in healing. The field of neuroscience now shows us how pain and suffering are rooted in our entire bodies, not just in our mind and feelings. I offer Skype therapy sessions if you have to be away, or live outside of Vancouver. Skype sessions are convenient and just as effective as in-person sessions. They can help you save time travelling to come to see me.

Sana Counselling is a resource for individuals and families with or affected by epilepsy or generalized anxiety. I work collaboratively with clients to find balance and security in your everyday life.If you need support in the areas of; epilepsy, anxiety, self esteem, stress, boundary work or relational difficulties, please feel free to call me. I also work in the areas of communication skills, life transitions, relaxation and stress management. I would love to speak further with you if you are ready to begin your process.I know that all of our experiences differ. I am here to really support you in the experiences that you choose to focus on in session and the subsequent growth that occurs in the process. I create a comfortable and accessible space for all clients to do their best work. You are the expert and our time together is your time to really dig deep. My main goal is helping clients come to terms with, or change their situations for the better, as well as help others to understand their development to remove stigma..
