Acupuncture (the insertion of very fine needles to promote the flow of energy within the body) is a balancing technique purported to restore the body to optimal health. The classical Chinese explanation is that channels of energy run in regular patterns through the body and over its surface. These channels, called meridians, are like rivers flowing through the body to irrigate and nourish the tissues, blood flow and nervous pulses also follow meridians to run through the body to various parts, structures and organs. An obstruction in the movement of these energy rivers are like a dam that backs up the flow in one part of the body and restricts it in others. Any obstruction and blockages or deficiencies of energy, blood and nervous pulses would eventually lead to disease. Needling the acupuncture points can influence the meridians: the acupuncture needles unblock the obstruction at the dams, and reestablish the regular flow through the meridians. Acupuncture treatments can therefore help the body's internal organs to correct imbalances in their digestion, absorption, and energy production activities, and in the circulation of their energy through the meridians. According to the needling methods, acupuncture can be divided into traditional acupuncture, ear acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, scalp acupuncture and hand acupuncture etc. Over the last few decades, traditional acupuncture was widely used combining with other techniques, like moxi-needling, cup-needling etc, to increase the therapeutic effects. Modern science explain the functions of acupuncture as following: Needling the acupuncture points stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These chemicals will either change the experience of pain, or they will trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones, which influence the body's own internal regulating system. Acupuncture has been used by Chinese people for thousands of year, and it becomes more and more popular in the Western societies. Here is the BBC documentary film about the acupuncture.

Naturopathic medicine allows for the widest scope possible for a primary health care provider and is used to provide relief from disease using a natural approach rather than a drug-based approach. Prior to treatment, the doctor will conduct a comprehensive health interview to record pertinent information, perform any needed physical examinations, and recommend any necessary labs such as hormone testing. Your naturopathic treatments may include the following modalities: **Nutritional Optimization** Includes diet advice and any needed natural health supplementation plans **Support for vegetarian/vegan lifestyle** if required-Food Allergy (IgG/IgE) **Testing-Nutrigenomic Testing** (comprehensive salivary genetic test for 45 genetic markers) **Botanical Medicine** Using completely vegan herbal extracts to naturally provide the body with certain actions needed to overcome dis-ease **Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture** Often, imbalances in the flow of blood and energy (Qi) along with deficiencies in the cooling or heating system of our body can lead to disease. Acupuncture along with carefully selected vegan friendly Chinese herbal formulas can be used to correct these imbalances. In addition to symptom differentiation. A misconception about acupuncture is that it is a painful therapy but nothing could be further from the truth. Dr. Hamid Tajbakhsh, ND uses a method of acupuncture he has named AKiMCA. This stands for Applied Kinesiology Mediated Constitutional Acupuncture which allows for gentle insertion of a minimal amount of needles to bring upon maximal healing response. Dr. Hamid uses manual muscle testing techniques to locate exact areas of excess and deficiency which allows him to efficiently and effectively address multiple concerns at once thereby treating the actual cause of his patients’ concerns. Bowen therapy was first founded by Tom Bowen in Australia during the 1960s. This therapy uses non-invasive gentle soft-tissue maneuvers which send signals to the central nervous system causing re-structuring of muscles, tendons, and bones. This works to break repetitive pain cycles and eliminate chronic pain patterns! Bowen therapy also increases blood flow and lymphatic drainage to the tissues and even organs which help to rejuvenate the body and aid in the self healing mechanisms of the body.
