Maureen Williams, ND
About me: Being a naturopathic doctor allows me to bring both a scientific mind and a compassionate heart to my work each day. I’ve been in practice since 1995 when I received my doctorate from Bastyr University. Before becoming a naturopathic doctor, I had an undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and had worked with the urban homeless as a social worker. My professional time is a balance of patient care, writing, and teaching. Patient care: My clinical practice began in Vermont where I saw patients for 13 years before immigrating with my family to Canada. My clinic time now is divided between Cortes Island and Victoria. The foundation of my practice is whole foods therapeutic nutrition but I use all of the tools I garnered in my naturopathic training: in addition to nutrition, these include herbal medicine, homeopathy, counselling, and hydrotherapy. I see patients of all ages with all kinds of health issues, and have special interest and expertise in women’s health and bio-identical hormone therapy, healthy aging, cancer support, and seniors’ health care.
