Victoria Shiatsu and Reflexology/Saki Kurashina
Victoria Body Alignment
During a Shiatsu (“finger pressure” in Japanese) massage, the practitioner applies pressure to areas in accordance with the “Tsubo”(pressure points) to release blocked energy and restore proper energy flow. An imbalanced body causes sickness, disease, and energy loss. A successful massage will restore energy flow and boost your immune system. Therapists use their hands to rub, tap, and squeeze. This form of massage is particularly helpful for body stiffness and aches.
Shiatsu is believed to achieve results by stimulating the release of endorphin’s, and other hormones and body chemicals, acting as natural pain killers that work to heal, soothe and make your mind and body perform optimally. It has been shown to be quite effective in relieving a variety of conditions such as back, neck and shoulder stiffness and pain, along with pain due to arthritis. It is intended to enhance the body’s natural healing ability and prevent the progression of disease. Shiatsu has many other benefits including:
Increased range of motion
Increased blood flow and circulation
Lowers blood pressure
Softens tissue while increasing flexibility
Reduces adhesion from scar tissue
Decreases muscle stiffness and pain
Reflexology is the physical act of applying pressure to the feet and hands with thumb, finger and hand techniques using lotion. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands with a premise that such work effects a physical change to the body
Reflexology helps the body to restore its balance naturally. After a treatment, your tension may be reduced and you may feel more relaxed. You may also notice yourself sleeping better and find your mood and sense of well-being improving. Other aspects may improve too; however, this happens on an individual basis. Reflexology has many other benefits including:
- Relaxation and stress relief
*Rejuvenation of tired feet
*Improvement in blood flow
*Enhancement of medical care (e.g. cancer, phantom limb pain, and hemodialysis patients).
*Help for mental health care (e.g.depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder)
