I am a single woman who has worked full time in healthcare for more than 20 years. I have had some kind of physical pain, migraine headaches since I was 12 years old. It got so bad I had to give up gym class in the 7th grade. I was officially diagnosed with fibromyalgia about ten years ago.
Due to a trauma about 25 years ago; I have been living with a severe anxiety disorder (on and off). Over the years; I have been to councilling of different kinds, I am currently followed in the pain clinic, I am medicated and I do whatever I can to keep moving forward. The last thing I want is for my circumstances to control me. As I get older and the longer I work at the hospital; I am finding that the pain is getting worse and it's getting harder to bounce back. I have had to give up more of my social life because I just don't have the energy and endurance, also my body just can't take it. There are days that are so bad that I am moved to tears because I hurt so bad. I am only 47 and I feel more like I am 97. When my massage therapist suggested floating; I jumped at it. I do have a medical plan which covers $1500/yr but it is all used up by massage therapy (does not cover all my appointments for the year. I pay the rest out of pocket). Also; I don't think it covers floating. If it did it would come out of the same $1500.
I fear that if I can not get a handle on my pain, I will have to go off on permanent disability which for me is the worse thing that can happen. I hope that you can help me. I appreciate your consideration.
How will this treatment impact Mary's life?
I've tried it once and found that floating allowed me to be 90% pain-free which I haven't felt in more than 25 years. Once my mind felt that I was safe; I was able to breathe and connect with myself, to slow my mind down and to experience the feeling of soothing and calm.
